EAP counselling
How to become an EAP counselling provider in Australia
There's no single national EAP panel or government regulator — each provider company runs its own onboarding. Here's how it actually works, who to apply to, and how billing runs once you're on a panel.
No single gatekeeper
Each EAP company sets its own bar
Australia has no single national EAP panel or registration requirement — companies like Converge International, TELUS Health (LifeWorks), Benestar, Assure Programs, AccessEAP, Acacia Connection, Uprise, PeopleSense and Sonder each run their own onboarding. EAPAA (the sector's peak body) accredits provider organisations, not individual clinicians, so panel entry is set by each company, not a central body.
In practice, most panels look for: PACFA or ACA registration (or AHPRA for psychologists), several years' post-qualification experience, a Master's-level qualification, professional indemnity insurance, and a current Working with Children Check. Requirements vary by company — confirm directly with each one you apply to.
How billing works
Fee-for-service, invoiced per session
Once you're on a panel, billing is straightforward: invoice the EAP company directly per session, referencing the client's authorisation or referral code and session number. No portal or real-time claiming is typically involved. Payment terms commonly run 14 to 31 days.
Two things matter more than the invoicing itself: sessions are capped per referral (typically 3–6 fifty-minute sessions per issue per year, sometimes 8–10 for larger employers), and each referral needs pre-authorisation before you see the client — you generally can't see someone and bill afterward without a valid authorisation number already in hand.
What Zenvia supports today
Invoice the EAP company like any other funder
EAP billing is exactly the shape Zenvia's invoicing already handles — tag the invoice to the EAP company as the funder, and it's sent and tracked the same way any other third-party-billed invoice is. What Zenvia doesn't track yet is the authorisation code or remaining-session count against a referral — that's still something you need to manage yourself alongside the invoice.

Tag the funder, send the invoice, track it against the client file.
